Bruce Willis, born March 19, 1955 in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, is an American actor and film producer. Willis grew up in New Jersey and began his career on stage as an actor in off-Broadway productions. His breakthrough in Hollywood came in 1985 with the television series "The Model and the Snoop," in which he played the role of David Addison Jr. and won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his performance.
Willis' first leading role in a film was in "Blind Date" (1987). However, he became a star only through his portrayal of New York police officer John McClane in "Die Hard" (1988). He embodied the role of McClane in four more sequels ("Die Hard 2," "Die Hard: Now More Than Ever!", "Die Hard 4.0" and "Die Hard - A Good Day to Die").
Willis has appeared in numerous successful films, including "Pulp Fiction" (1994), "12 Monkeys" (1995), "The Fifth Element" (1997), "The Sixth Sense" (1999) and "Sin City" (2005). For his role in "Die Hard - Now More Than Ever", he received a Saturn Award nomination for Best Leading Actor.
In addition to his work as an actor, Willis has also worked as a producer, producing, among others, the film "The Jackal" (1997). He has also worked as a musician, releasing his first album "The Return of Bruno" in 1986.
Willis has been married twice, first to actress Demi Moore and later to model Emma Heming. He has five daughters, including actresses Rumer, Scout and Tallulah Willis.
